Nicole Farmer,
LCSW
Nicole has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Sonoma State University (2008) and a Masters in Social Work degree from University of Southern California (2014). Nicole became licensed in 2017.
Nicole chose to work at SCHIP after a career in various agencies, including San Luis Obispo County Child Welfare Services, Department of State Hospitals, the Alzheimer’s Association, group homes for girls, foster family agencies, and in the classroom. As Nicole gained experience in these agencies, she saw the importance of a person- centered approach, promoting and advocating for people’s self-determination, and meeting people’s motivation for working on things they find important to make improvements in their lives. Working at SCIHP gives Nicole the opportunity to bring the skills she learned in various workplaces to this community and help people who want to be helped.
Nicole has extensive training and experience providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) individually and groups, group treatment, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Nicole uses a trauma-informed strengths-based approach with all clients. Nicole works with teens, individuals, and families.
In her spare time, Nicole loves to hike with her dog, go paddleboarding on any body of water, spend time with friends, eat really good food, watch movies, and is particularly obsessed with musicals.
