Laura Wong, PharmD, Pharmacy Director

Dr. Laura Wong received her pharmacy doctorate degree at University of San Francisco of Pharmacy and completed her clinical pharmacy residency program from VA Medical Center in Martinez, CA. Dr. Wong’s pharmacy career includes hospital, retail, ambulatory care, physical pharmacist, skilled nursing pharmacy consultant and pharmacy consultant. Dr. Wong moved away from patient care for a short while to gain experience in drug safety, quality and drug research regulatory affairs for a pharmaceutical manufacturer. When Dr. Wong is not working, she enjoys playing golf or just watching golf on tv.

Katherine Duncan, Pharmacist

Meet our dedicated and passionate pharmacist, Katherine, who brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for patient care. Ever since encountering other pharmacists from SCIHP, she longed to join the team and are thrilled to now call SCIHP her home. With a diverse background in retail, veterinary, home-infusion, and women's health pharmacy, Katherine, possess extensive knowledge in various areas, including Crohn's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Additionally, she has been actively involved in clinical trials during her time at UCSD, fueling her interest in pharmacy. Her enthusiasm shines through as she enjoys engaging patients in discussions about colonoscopies and related topics.

Katherine initiated and currently oversees the Women's Health Organization, a campus-wide, cross-discipline student group that garnered recognition as a National Top Ten Student Organization in 2001. Family plays a significant role in her life, and she cherishes quality time with her eight-year-old son. In her free time, Katherine channels her creativity by writing children's books, painting, and collecting elaborate pop-up books. Her love for adventure takes them traveling, stream fishing, and engaging in mind-stimulating activities like solving crossword puzzles. And yes, a good nap is also among her treasured indulgences.

Communicating with patients on a foundation of mutual respect and active listening is paramount for this pharmacist. She firmly believes that building strong provider-patient relationships hinges on these crucial elements. Furthermore, she expresses immense satisfaction with their work environment, finding joy in the interactions with co-workers and patients alike. Katherine is empowered to make a positive impact on people's lives and her gratitude resonates as she expresses heartfelt thanks for the happiness she finds at SCIHP.
